SUMMARY:Clark Nature Preserve Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:Sarah Gotwols will lead a walk through the Clark Nature Preserve to explore the meadow and woodlands for summer birds such as buntings\, vireo\, and tanagers. Meet in the parking area at the end of House Rock Road at 7 a.m. There will be a moderate intensity walk along the Ralph H. Goodno Trail and “Blue Trail” which leads to Reed Run and the House Rock overlook as well as the newly-opened universally accessible trail. Please bring water and snacks\, binoculars\, and be prepared for insects including ticks. SUMMARY:Monthly Club Meeting – “Osprey: Pennsylvania’s Less Appreciated Recovery Success”
DESCRIPTION:Club Meeting – Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area Visitor Center\, 100 Museum Road\, Stevens\, PA 17578 \nPresented by: Patti Barber\, Pennsylvania Game Commission  \nOsprey are an incredible success story\, but often overshowed by the recovery of bald eagles and peregrine falcons. We will cover the history of the osprey population in Pennsylvania and reasons for its decline then recovery. We will describe current monitoring efforts\, successes\, challenges\, and failures. Including the current population and distribution in the state. \nPatti Barber has studied birds on four continents\, she did her master’s research on mate guarding and paternity in red-faced warblers. She is currently the endangered bird specialist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission where she is responsible for the 20 Threatened and Endangered native birds of the state.
