Meet at 7 a.m. at the main parking lot for Ferncliff Preserve located on Wildlife Preserve Road\, Drumore. SUMMARY:Monthly Club Meeting – “How Citizen Science Can Help Pennsylvania's Purple Martins”
DESCRIPTION:Club Meeting – Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area Visitor Center\, 100 Museum Road\, Stevens\, PA 17578 \nPresented by: Will Krohn\, Master’s in Wildlife Ecology Student\, Aeroecology Lab at the University of Delawre \nNorth America’s largest swallow\, the Purple Martin\, is in decline. This talk will discuss the life history of the Purple Martin and some reasons for this population decline. Then\, Will Krohn will discuss his research to help conserve Purple Martins by studying how young martins move between the artificial colonies that they rely on for nesting. This research is currently happening across Pennsylvania\, and this talk will conclude with ways that you can contribute to this project and help protect Purple Martins. \nWill Krohn has worked as an avian field technician and bird bander all around the eastern United States. He’s worked with a variety of species\, from Common Loons to Yellow-breasted Chats. Now\, Will is conducting research on Purple Martins while pursuing his Master’s in Wildlife Ecology in the Aeroecology Lab at the University of Delaware.

DESCRIPTION:Sarah Gotwols will lead a summer walk through a forested area along the Susquehanna River. We will meet at 7 a.m. in the parking area located at the end of Prescot Road near Bainbridge. This will be an easy guided walk\, with both grassy and paved trail surfaces. Please bring binoculars\, water\, and be prepared for insects including ticks. DESCRIPTION:Sarah Gotwols will lead a walk through the Clark Nature Preserve to explore the meadow and woodlands for summer birds such as buntings\, vireo\, and tanagers. Meet in the parking area at the end of House Rock Road at 7 a.m. There will be a moderate intensity walk along the Ralph H. Goodno Trail and “Blue Trail” which leads to Reed Run and the House Rock overlook as well as the newly-opened universally accessible trail.
