After decades of habitat loss, wild populations of northern bobwhite were officially extirpated from Pennsylvania in 2014. Ten years later, significant progress has been made toward reestablishing quail through translocation efforts. This presentation will discuss the species’ decline, the status of the restoration project, and highlight how, in collaboration with our dedicated partners, we are working to restore wild quail to the commonwealth.

Haley Keff recently completed her master’s at Texas Tech University, where her research focused on bobwhite management including translocation, habitat selection, and chick survival. She is now the Quail, Pheasant, and Dove Biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission leading the state’s bobwhite quail reintroduction program.
