Contact: Jonathan (717-940-6067 or jonathan.heller@comcast.net)
Jonathan Heller will lead a field trip to Memorial Lake and surrounding area in Lebanon County for early morning displaying American Woodcock at 7 a.m. Meet at the Middle Road Parking lot. From Rt. 322 east of Hershey and south of Lebanon, travel north on Rt. 934 through Annville. After going under Rt. 81 and past the National Cemetery, turn left onto Asher Miner Road. Funck’s Restaurant/gas station is on the right. In approximately .3 miles turn left onto Boundary Road. Do not turn left onto Memorial Lake Road, which is one-way around the west side of the lake. In about .5 miles turn left onto Middle Road, which leads to the parking lot and bathroom facilities. Target birds will be water birds on the lake and early migrants, possibly including American Bittern. There will be some walking on trails that have been very muddy over the last year so hiking boots are recommended. Please contact Jonathan (717-940-6067 or jonathan.heller@comcast.net) by 6 p.m. the night before if you plan to attend or to ask questions.
